Wet Room Flooring Installation

For wet rooms and walk-in showers, one of the biggest considerations is the type of flooring you need. The type you choose is more than aesthetic – it will also determine the type of under tray for your wet room and must stand up to the rigors of daily use. Wet room flooring comes in several types, including porcelain or stone tiles, vinyl, and micro cement. Each flooring type has advantages and some may be more suited for your wet room than others. As wet room flooring experts, Horizontal Matters can help you choose your ideal wet room flooring and install it for you so it remains durable. We provide wet room flooring to homes and businesses throughout London, Essex, and Hertfordshire.

Wet Room Flooring Fitters

Fitting a wet room flooring should be done by professionals. When you’re dealing with rooms that produce a great deal of moisture or have proximity to many water pipes and plumbing, it’s always best to let experts handle flooring. Wet room flooring requires an under tray underneath the top layer of flooring as well, and it’s ideal to have professionals who have dealt with wet rooms before handling the installation. At Horizontal Matters, our workers have the skills and tools to ensure your wet room flooring looks as inviting and sophisticated as you imagined it. We won’t leave until the entire flooring is in place and finished, ready for you to use. By working with professional wet room flooring experts, you also guarantee that your flooring investment will last longer.

Wet Room Flooring Installation Process

To ensure efficiency and a high-quality installation, we have a streamlined process. We don’t want to disrupt your daily life any more than necessary, so we make installation as convenient for you as possible. The first step is visiting your property to assess and take measurements. After the assessment, we can provide you with an accurate estimate for the installation work. You have full control over the timeline for installation as well.

You can choose to have the entire project done in one day, or if you have multiple wet rooms that need flooring, we can spread the work over multiple days. Our fitters always treat your property with the utmost respect and clean the space once they’re done.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wood & Laminate Floors

Yes. There are many sound reducing underlays on the market which can be incorporated into the installation. These will offer a sound reduction of between 10 to 43 decibels.

Most manufacturers’ guarantees would be invalid if new underlay is not used.

Yes, but in most cases for wood it must be an engineered product, and you must use an appropriate underlay specifically designed for the purpose.

This would be due to excessive moisture. If you are using a mop to clean your floor ensure it is well wrung out before you start.

All wooden floors must be laid with room for expansion. There are various ways of concealing the expansion gap and we can happily show you all the various options.

Unless great care is taken with a wooden floor it is very likely to scratch. If you have a ‘shoes-off’ policy in your house this would reduce the likelihood of scratches, as will a strong doormat to catch loose grit at the entrance. In the case of laminates, they are highly scratch resistant.

Most wooden floors are more or less maintenance free but you should always follow the manufacturers recommended guidelines for maintaining your floor.

‘Tracking’, as it is known, may occur in high traffic areas, and will depend on the type of carpet you select. Carpets that are denser are less likely to track. To reduce the likelihood of this occurring it is recommended that carpets are vacuumed twice a week to lift the pile, and we also recommend that you have your carpet professionally cleaned at least once a year.

The average life span is 7 years although there are a lot of new carpets on the market that give a 10 year guarantee.

Depending on the type of carpet being installed either plywood or hardboard can be applied to the floorboards prior to your new carpet being fitted.

Yes, you can but low tog underlays must be used which will allow the heat to penetrate through to your room.

There are specialist underlays available that reduce this type of noise and we would be happy to provide advice to you if this is a concern.

Most manufacturers’ guarantees would be invalid if new underlay is not used.
